JPTS celebrates PT day- media coverage

The Jordanian Physiotherapy Society (JPTS) in collaboration with the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Jordan celebrated the International Physiotherapy day (PT day) on September 29th.2016 which held the slogan ” add life to years”.

The international PT day is on September the 8thand is celebrated all over the globe by the physiotherapy societies and associations.

The ceremony began with versus from the holly Qoran which was followed by the word of Dr. Nihad Al Masri the dean of the Faculty of Rehabilitation sciences. Dr. Al Masri mentioned the historical rising of physiotherapy and how it evolved with centuries to become one of the leading health care professions.

 Dr. Saad Al Na’san the president of the Jordanian Physiotherapy Society  JPTS outlined in his speech the importance of the PT day to improve the public awareness of physiotherapy as a profession and to show the importance of physiotherapy and how it can change people’s lives.

Dr. Al Na’san also talked about the services that the JPTS provide to physiotherapists both undergraduates and professionals which includes but not restricted to delivering postgraduate courses and workshops to improve the skills of the therapists.

 Mr. Modhi Alhaj who was the president of the JPTS in many rounds talked about the history of PT history in Jordan and how it started from being taught as a diploma in the paramedical institute ( established in 1973) to the start of Bachelor programs in the three universities The University of Jordan, The, The Hashemite University and the Jordan University for Science and Technology in 1999.

 Mr. Nabeel Sawalha the well known comedian was the guest of honor. He talked about stress and its reflections on our lives. Mr. Sawalha also shared his experience in “Laughter Yoga” and how it helps to relieve stress.

 The ceremony also included a meditation session presented by Miss. Aseel Nassar (PT) and Miss. Nisreen Khashman (OP) and included a group walking session.
